Dr.
Steven Jaffee has been a part of Metropolitan Serenity House since
it's inception
in
1989.
His
medical management of our
young men on a truly individualized basis is astounding. Dr. Jaffee's
reputation and experience with medication management for detoxification,
depression and bi-polar is prevalent throughout the US. He has been
innovative and extremely effective with the mental health management
our boys with addiction and dual diagnoses. We are very fortunate and
grateful to have Dr. Jaffee lead our medical team in the fight to sustain
long-term success for our clients at Serenity House.........................
Kirk R. Owens, JD, CAMS
Recreation and Development
Director
Kirk earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with minors in Finance, Accounting, and Production Management from the University of Central Florida in 1989 and entered recovery shortly thereafter. In 1990, he became an assistant manager with the Atlanta Athletic Club and began volunteering with Metropolitan Serenity House as well as serving on the Board. In 1993, he was Program Director until leaving for Ohio Northern University law school. He continued working with Metropolitan Serenity House during his second year of law school and Summer Breaks holding several positions including Program Director and tutor. From 1997 to 2006, Kirk practiced law in Pensacola, Florida and is now the Development Director as well as the Recreation Director for MASH. Kirk also serves as Community/Court Liaison for MASH. His passion for fitness, teamwork and belief in the importance of learning to have fun while being sober add to his role as Recreation Director. He is excellent at recreation event planning and plans and participates in major and minor recreation activities. Kirk is able to pull these events off in a seamless manner thus enhancing the experience of the event. Kirk's background as a criminal lawyer is helpful as many addicts who are facing legal issues surrounding their addiction. Kirk works with defense attorneys, prosecutors and judges to guide clients through the legal system and to help a normally punitive system realize the need for treatment for addicts. He also partners with local businesses to enhance programs that will benefit the clients he serves. His zeal and enthusiasm for recovery make him an asset in the field of substance abuse treatment.
Gail
Beard, BS, CAC II, CCS

Gail received her undergraduate degree from Ball State University.
She is a Certified Addictions Counselor Level II and a Certified
Clinical Supervisor through Georgia Addictions Counselors Association.
She has been working in the addiction field for more then 19 years,
the last 2 years at Serenity House. She worked in residential and
outpatient treatment for Highland Rivers for 17 years. Her last
3 years at Highland Rivers she was Program Manager of New Hope
Women’s
Center outpatient program. Gail is skilled at group therapy, individual
and family counseling. She is also a Certified Clinical Supervisor,
which allows her to assist her fellow employees as well as others
outside the agency in the addiction certification process.

Brandon
Gilmer, CAC I
Brandon started his professional counseling career at MASH and is now in his seventh year with us. He is a Certified Addiction Counselor, a recovering addict himself, and an alumni of the MASH program. Brandon attended MASH in its infancy back in 1993 and has a deep and personal understanding of our mission, philosophy, and treatment model. He demonstrates a lasting commitment to helping young men recover from addiction and feels that he has truly found his life's calling.
Jason
Wiren, CAC I
Sarah Hansard graduated from Hall school of Nursing, (now Brenau), in 1976. She has been actively practicing as a registered nurse since that time. After approx. 10 years in multiple medical specialties, (including long term physical rehab., neurological intensive care, IV team, hemodialysis, post-partum, gynecological surgery, crisis pregnancy, and cardiac intensive care), she found her niche in psychiatric nursing. She has worked almost exclusively in the specialties of mental health and substance abuse for over 20 years. Sarah has worked both in the private and indigent sectors, with adults and adolescents. She has had positions in outpatient, sub-acute detox, 28 day program, sub-acute inpatient/crisis intervention, psychiatric hospital based, and medical/ psychiatric intensive care unit. Sarah assisted with a double blind drug research project to collect data for the FDA related to a then research medication. Her broad nursing experience assures that she makes sound decisions related to the mental, as well as physical health, of the clients we serve.
Sarah is the mother of 1 young adult son; she feels that this helps her immensely to relate to our guys. She has also seen family and friends suffer from the disease of addiction and has tremendous compassion and understanding for their struggles. We feel we are lucky to have her on our team.
