Three-Quarter Program

Alumni Relapse Prevention

"At Serenity House, we never forget our guys. We are here for them for as long as it takes."

--Anne Bush Ambrose,  Founder

Gentry's Option presents Serenity House graduates with the opportunity to live in an apartment with a daily check-in by Serenity House staff. They attend aftercare group and individual sessions with their former Serenity House clinician. Serenity House provides cable and internet access in each apartment. Twelve-step meetings and sponsors are a requirement.

The Alumni Relapse Prevention Program (ARPP) serves young men who have completed the Serenity House Program, who are at least twenty-one years old, and who have demonstrated an ability to maintain sobriety for substantial periods of time. Although they come to us in relapse or in danger of relapse, they are clearly committed to living sober lives and need support for a fresh start as more mature adults. While in the ARPP residence these young men are asked to pay a percentage of their income to help maintain the household. However, with this program, parents are never required to pay for treatment.

We developed the ARPP and Gentry's Option programs so that every Serenity House graduate has a place to continue or restart their recovery. Both programs are structured and provide a safe environment.  This allows parents and clients the comfort of knowing that this will be the last treatment center they will ever need.

In describing Metropolitan Serenity House programs, we acknowledge that the distinctions among programs are not rigid and our practice is fluid according to the varied needs of our residents. For example, a young man in the Gentry's Option might tell us he is in danger of relapse and so we would admit him to Serenity House for a while until he is stronger. If a young man returns who has slipped after being successful for a time, he would enter the Alumni Relapse Prevention Program. We keep the end in mind and we do what works long-term for our guys and their families.
